Author Interview: Jennifer Malone Wright

I would like to welcome Author Jennifer Malone Wright to our blog today.

Why don't you tell us a little something about yourself?

I am Jennifer Malone Wright, mother of five children, military wife, lover of the written word, supporter of the arts and author of the paranormal. I have one novel called The Birth of Jaiden and a short story series called The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. I also love photography and being outside.

What inspired you to write The Vampire Hunter's Daughter?

The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter just started as an inkling of an idea about a woman vampire slayer. I decided that woman needed a back story and became fascinated by her story…and that is how Chloe became The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter.

How long did it take you to write the book?

It didn’t take long at all, because it’s a short story series. The first two parts are pretty short, and I wrote really fast. The third and fourth parts took longer, and this last part that is not released quite yet took the longest because I was figuring out story line…plus, well…I have five kids.

While writing how many times do you go back and rewrite a plot?

It really depends on how the story ends up telling itself. I usually go back many times and change little things, but the major plotline stays the same.

You run into a bookstore, where do you go to first?

Duh…YA section!

How many books in a month do you tend to read?

Well, I try to read as least two or three. Because I’m such a busy person, I don’t have a lot of time to read for pleasure. I run a book blog too, just to keep me reading and accountable for it.

State 5 random facts about yourself.

I am a history junkie. I love the ocean. I can play the harmonica. I hate housework and I love road trips.

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Evershade, by Alexia Purdy. It was just released by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing. Check it out. It’s great so far.

What particular place do you write in?

I have to write at home. I’m a mother of five kids and my husband is a cop and in the Army National Guard (used to be active Army), so he isn’t home a lot to take them. When he is home, I want to spend time with him. We have had conversations lately about me having time to either go somewhere to write, or hide at home.

What is your favorite Genre?

My favorite genre is paranormal, but I like romance like Nora Roberts too.

Paperback, Hardcover, eBook? Why?

All of them. I refuse to choose because I like them all for different reasons. I love my hard covers for collecting. I love paperback for the bathtub, and I love my Kindle because I can take it anywhere, read all my indie author friends books, read it on my treadmill, and I could add a lot more to each one.

What is the best book you’ve read?

That, I can’t answer either. I have no idea. It’s like asking me what my favorite song is, this week it might be Rolling in the Deep, but next week it might be 9 Crimes. It just depends.

Here’s your chance to market your book. Describe it and why readers should pick it up?

Ok, well first here is the blurb...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fourteen-year-old Chloe witnesses her mother’s murder at the hands of a vampire. Before the vampire can kidnap her, there is an unexpected rescue by a group of vampire hunters. Overwhelmed by the feeling of safety, Chloe passes out and they whisk her away to their small community.
When Chloe wakes, she comes face to face with the only other living relative, besides her mother, whom she has ever met: her grandfather. Chloe’s mother kept her hidden from the family; now, Chloe tries to unveil the family secrets.
Through her grandfather, she learns her mother was a vampire hunter. In fact, her entire family is descended from the powerful bloodlines of vampire hunters. Chloe agrees to join the family she has never known for one reason only: Chloe vows to kill the vampire responsible for her mother’s murder.
With vengeance in her soul, Chloe is even more determined to follow through on her vow when she discovers the true identity of her enemy and how he is connected to her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This series is exciting. It’s packed full of action and fight scenes. I have an awesome heroine who is part vampire and part Hunter and she watches her mother die at the hands of vampires. She vows to avenge her mother’s death and finds herself in a world of the paranormal that she never knew existed. The Hunter’s are descended from angels and demi-gods. So, these hunters are a special breed of hunter and live in a gated community, like their own little town.

You will totally like this series if you like paranormal YA. It is also FREE on Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, and all kinds of other places.
